Frequently Asked Questions

What are the tub dimensions?

Set-up size: 4'6" diameter and 2' deep comfortably accommodates two adults with easy access

Storage size: 20" wide and 25" high

How long does it take to set up the tub?

For someone who is familiar with the AquaDoula or has actually read through the instructions carefully, it takes about 15 minutes to set up.  Otherwise, it might take more like 30 minutes.   Time to fill it with water depends on your water pressure and hot water supply.  Shortest fill time would be about 15 minutes, but if you need to wait for your water heater to reheat water for another couple of fill cycles, it may take several hours.

How is the tub filled and temperature maintained?

The tub should ideally be located within 30 feet of a combined hot and cold faucet and within five feet of a grounded electrical outlet to plug in the heater. It should be filled with water that is close to body temperature (around 98 degrees Fahrenheit). Tub heaters help to maintain water temperature once the tub is filled.

Is the tub too heavy for a second-floor apartment?

No, weight is not a problem in any normally sturdy building.  Most concerns about weight (such as pianos and waterbeds) is that they are a long-term stress on the structure.  Birthing tubs are a very short-term stress.  The weight of the filled tub is about the same as three large football players.  If you would be comfortable holding an open house and having three large football players standing in a group talking with each other, then you should be comfortable that your structure will support a filled AquaDoula tub.

How is the cleanliness of the tub maintained?

A disposable tub liner is used for each labor. Each renter is required to thoroughly clean the permanent liner is with a provided hospital-grade germicidal disinfectant and to flush the submersible pump with household cleaning solution.

How long does it take to dismantle the tub?

Depending on how effectively you get air bubbles out of the drain pump, it can take 15-45 minutes to drain the tub. Most of the time required to pack up the tub is in allowing the pieces to dry out, laundering the sheet, etc.  The actual dismantling of the tub is probably about 5 minutes, and then it takes another 15 minutes to pack the pieces up.

What is required ?

The tub frame spirals in to a compact diameter of about 2 ft., and all the basic AquaDoula parts fit inside that.  The Accessories kit comes in a Rubbermaid tote container that is about 20" long, 13" wide and 17" height.

How much space does it take up when not set up?

The tub frame spirals in to a compact diameter of about 2 ft., and all the basic AquaDoula parts fit inside that.  The Accessories kit comes in a Rubbermaid tote container that is about 20" long, 13" wide and 17" height.

Will the tub fit in my car?

The AquaDoula rental package will fit in any size car, except a Smart Car, and I am happy to load it into your car.

Why is the reservation deposit non-refundable?

The reservation deposit means the tub is reserved for you for the four-week period and I will turn away others who come after you. If you end up delivering before your rental period, then the remaining $100 is not owed. However, if the tub is picked up and not used during labor for any reason, then the full fee will not be refunded.
